# Costume Swap

> Flip the cards and match each costume to its friend.

A gentle Halloween memory game. Every costume has a card of its own (a witch hat, cat ears, a crown, a chef hat and more) and a card with a round little friend wearing it. Turn two cards at a time and match each costume to its friend. Three boards make a game, from six pairs to ten, and each board gives up to three stars for how few tries it took. There's no clock, so play at your own pace.

## How to play

1. Tap or click a card to turn it, then turn a second one. On a keyboard, move with the arrow keys and press Space or Enter.
2. Match a costume to the friend wearing it. A colored band at the bottom of each card shows its pair's color.
3. Cards that don't match turn back after a moment, or as soon as you turn another.
4. Clear three boards of 6, 8 and 10 pairs. Fewer tries earn more stars, up to 9 in a game.

## Tips

- Turn a card you haven't seen yet as your first card of a try, so every try teaches you something.
- Say what you see in your head ("crown, top left"): names are easier to remember than pictures.
- Use the colored bands: a costume and its friend share a color.
- Work across the board in rows, so you know where you've already looked.

### Is it free?

Yes. It's free to play in your browser, with no download and no sign-up. Coins you earn are for fun and can never be bought.

### Is there a timer?

No. Take as long as you like. Stars come from how few tries a board takes, not how fast you are.

### When can I play it?

Costume Swap is a Halloween game. It's here all through October and comes back every year, with your best kept.

### Can I play on a phone or tablet?

Yes. It's built for touch first and plays the same on a phone, a tablet, a Chromebook or a computer.
