# Terms of use

> The simple terms for playing the free games on Sidekick Arcade.

**Draft: needs legal review before launch.**

Sidekick Arcade is a free website with small games you can play in your browser. By using the site you agree to these simple terms.

## Using the site

- The games and site are free to play. No account is needed; accounts are optional.
- Please be kind to other players, and help keep the site safe and friendly for everyone.
- Do not try to break, overload or interfere with the site or its games.

## Content and games

The games, artwork, sound and text on Sidekick Arcade belong to Sidekick Arcade or its licensors. You may play them and share links to them. Please do not copy or resell them without permission.

## Advertising

Some areas of the site show advertising: ads sold directly to businesses, and links to things we like on Amazon. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. We don't use ad networks. Every ad sold here is reviewed first and must be suitable for every age; see the [ad guidelines](https://sidekickarcade.com/advertise/#guidelines).

Amazon and our advertisers are separate companies. If you follow an ad or a link to their site, their own terms and privacy notice apply there.

### Advertising with us

**Draft: these advertising terms need legal review before launch.**

- **Who can advertise.** You need an account for someone 18 or older, acting for the business named in the ad, and the right to use everything in your ad and the page it opens.
- **Review first.** Every ad is reviewed before it runs, against our [ad guidelines](https://sidekickarcade.com/advertise/#guidelines). We approve most ads. When we ask for changes or turn an ad down, we say why.
- **No payment until approval.** Submitting an ad is free. We only ask for payment after your ad is approved: we quote a price with the approval and send an invoice. Nothing is charged before your ad is approved.
- **How long an ad runs.** From its start date until it reaches the views you paid for. A view is counted when at least half the ad is on screen for a second. Visitors who ask not to be counted (Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control) aren't counted, so your ad may be seen more often than we count. We also count at most a few views of your ad per visitor a day, and views at a steady pace: in any hour, at most 1/48 of the views you paid for (or 50, for a small ad), so an ad runs for at least about two days. When views come in faster than that, or far faster than usual (a sign of made-up traffic), we stop counting them for the hour or the day and look into it; your ad keeps showing.
- **Safety checks.** We check the page your ad opens before it runs and every day from approval until it ends. If it fails a check, or your ad stops meeting the guidelines, we may pause the ad and tell you why on the ad desk. Once the page is fixed, you can resume the ad on the ad desk; it starts again when the page passes the check. We may stop an ad that breaks the law or the guidelines.
- **Your link.** Your ad links through our own address, which names your site, to the page you gave us, with the link tags you chose. Any redirects must stay on your own site. Tags are fixed words; we never add anything about the people who tap.
- **Changes.** You can pause your ad at any time. Changes to its pictures, alt text, page, neighborhoods or your own link tags are reviewed again; the approved version keeps running meanwhile. Changes to its utm_ tags apply at once, after a safety check.
- **Emails.** We email the contact address on your ad about the review, the invoice and how the ad is doing, once you confirm the address with the link we send it. The ad desk always shows the same news.
- **Keeping your ads.** We delete a draft nobody touches for 90 days, an ad we turned down after 90 days, and an ended ad a year after it ended. The [privacy page](https://sidekickarcade.com/privacy/#advertisers) has the details.
- **Your responsibility.** You are responsible for your ad and the page it opens. Questions about an invoice go through the [contact page](https://sidekickarcade.com/contact/).

## Leaderboards

Leaderboards show house players (characters we made, with scores we set and always marked "House") and your own best, which only you can see. A score counts only when it is played fairly in the game itself.

## Ad-free plans

An ad-free code switches ads off on every device it's entered on, until its plan's last day. It's for the group it was made for: please share it only within that group. We may switch off a code that's shared publicly, and we'll get in touch with whoever arranged the plan first. Coins and items work the same with or without a code: a plan buys no coins and no advantage in any game.

## Privacy

The [privacy page](https://sidekickarcade.com/privacy/) explains exactly what the site keeps and counts, and what it doesn't.

## No warranty

The site is provided as it is. Games may change, pause or be removed at any time, and we cannot promise they will always work on every device.

## Changes and contact

We may update these terms from time to time. Questions can go through the [contact page](https://sidekickarcade.com/contact/).
