A small five-by-five crossword, new every day.

A five-by-five crossword that fits in a coffee break or a snack break: about ten friendly clues, a few minutes, and a new puzzle every day, the same one for everyone. Your character stands beside the grid, thinks along with you and cheers when the last letter lands. Solve it every day to grow your streak, and if you get stuck, Check shows which letters need another look.

How to play

1. Tap or click a square and type. Tap the same square, or the clue, to switch between across and down. On a keyboard, the arrow keys move and Tab jumps to the next clue.
2. The clue for the highlighted word sits above the keys, or beside the grid on a big screen. The arrows on the clue bar step through every clue.
3. Stuck? Check marks any wrong letters in red. A solve after checking still counts, for two stars instead of three.
4. There's one puzzle a day, the same for everyone. Solve it each day to build your streak; playing it again is just for practice.

Every way to play is equal here: touch, mouse and keyboard all move at the same top speed, so scores are fair whichever device you use.

Tips

• Start with the clues you know for sure: every letter you place helps the crossing words.
• Short words cross everything in a 5x5, so one right answer often unlocks two or three more.
• Stuck on a word? Switch direction and work the crossing clues instead.
• Check marks any wrong letters in red. A solve after checking still counts, for two stars.
