Ask a café regular for a rank you hold, take every card they have of it, and collect books of four. Miss and you go fish. Four regulars sit across the table, from Rosie, who forgets what she just asked, to Agnes, who hasn't missed a count in fifty years. One Daily Pond a day, the same deal for everyone, scored against the house.
How to play
- On your turn, ask a regular for a rank you hold. If they have any, they hand over every one and you ask again. If not, you go fish from the pond, and fishing the rank you asked for keeps your turn going.
- Tap or click a rank in your hand, then the regular to ask, or drag the rank onto them. At a table of two, one tap asks.
- Keys work too: Left and Right pick a rank, Enter asks (then Left, Right and Enter pick who), Space hurries the regulars along and Esc pauses.
- Four of a rank make a book. When all thirteen are down, the most books wins. Every ask is said out loud, so it pays to listen.
Every way to play is equal here: touch, mouse and keyboard all move at the same top speed. A score means the same on any device.
Tips
- Whoever asks for a rank holds one. Remember who asked, and ask them back.
- Go fish means none, until they draw. Two draws later, it might be worth asking again.
- Ask first for ranks you hold three of: a miss gives away less.
- Late in the game, with the pond empty, count what's left. Every remaining card is in someone's hand.
Questions
Is it free?
Yes. It's free to play in your browser, with no download and no sign-up needed. Coins you earn are for fun and can never be bought.
How many cards does each player get?
Seven each at a table of two, five each at a table of three or four. The rest is the pond.
What happens if I draw the card I asked for?
You show it and ask again. That's fish your wish.
What if my hand runs out?
You draw a card from the pond on your turn and keep playing. If the pond is empty too, you're done, and your books still count.
Is there a daily game?
Yes. The Daily Pond is one deal a day, the same for everyone, with the house's book count to match.
Can I play on a phone?
Yes. It's built for touch first and plays the same on a phone, a tablet or a computer.
