Classic Rummy at a café table: draw, meld sets and runs, lay off on anyone's melds, and go out first. Eight regulars take the seat across from you, from Gus, who throws away exactly what you need, to Agnes, who has played here for fifty years. One Daily Deal gives everyone the same cards, with a par to beat.
How to play
- Each turn, take the top card of the deck or the discard pile, then end it by discarding one card.
- Meld sets (three or four of a rank) and runs (three or more in a row, one suit, aces low), and lay off cards on any meld on the table.
- Tap cards to pick them, then Meld or Lay off; tap the discard pile to throw one, or drag a card where it goes. Keys: arrows move, Space picks, Enter draws or discards, Z melds, X lays off, U undoes, Esc pauses.
- Go out first to score the cards left in the other hands: faces 10, aces 1, the rest their number, double if you go out all at once. A match runs to 40 points with two players, 60 with three, 80 with four.
Every way to play is equal here: touch, mouse and keyboard all move at the same top speed. A score means the same on any device.
Tips
- Watch what the next player picks up from the discard pile, and don't throw them its neighbors.
- A pair whose other two cards are already melded is dead weight. Keep partials that can still be completed.
- Holding your melds lets you go out all at once for double points, but every card in your hand counts if someone beats you to it.
- When anyone is down to three cards, throw your face cards and lay down what you have.
Questions
Is it free?
Yes. It's free to play in your browser, with no download and no sign-up needed. Coins you earn are for fun and can never be bought.
Which Rummy is this?
Classic Rummy: ten cards each with two players, seven with three or four. Melds go on the table as you play, and you can lay off on anyone's melds. Aces are low.
How does scoring work?
The first player out scores the cards left in the other hands: kings, queens and jacks 10, aces 1, the rest face value. Going out all at once doubles it. A match runs to 40 points with two players, 60 with three and 80 with four.
What happens when the deck runs out?
The discard pile is shuffled into a new deck once. If that runs out too, the hand ends and the lowest hand scores the difference.
Is there a daily game?
Yes. The Daily Deal gives everyone the same hand against Barnaby each day, with a par for the turns it takes to go out.
Can I play on a phone?
Yes. It's built for touch first and plays the same on a phone, a tablet or a computer.
