A prize card flips, you and a café regular each bid one card in secret, and the higher card takes the pile. Everyone holds the same thirteen cards, so every bid now is a card you can't spend later. Eight regulars, from Gus, who bids about what a prize is worth, to Rudy, who learns your habits. One Daily Pile, the same prizes for everyone.
How to play
- A prize card flips. Pick one of your thirteen cards as a secret bid; the regular across the table bids one too. Both flip, and the higher card takes the pile.
- Prizes are worth their number: Ace 1, Jack 11, Queen 12, King 13. A tie is a battle: nobody takes the pile, and the next prize joins it. Most points after thirteen flips wins.
- Tap or click a card, or drag it to your spot, then tap Flip. Keys work too: the arrows move between cards, Enter picks one, Space flips and Esc pauses. One tap flips is a switch on the start card.
- Every card is spent once you bid it. Both hands and the prizes left stay on show, so count before you bid.
Every way to play is equal here: touch, mouse and keyboard all move at the same top speed. A score means the same on any device.
Tips
- Don't overpay. If their best card left is a 9, your 10 wins it as surely as your King.
- Throw your Ace at a big prize you can't win cheaply. The card you save wins two later.
- A tie keeps the prize on the table, so the next flip is worth both. Plan for it.
- From the halfway point, count what both hands have left before every bid.
- The top regulars notice patterns. Mix up how you bid on the big prizes.
Questions
Is it free?
Yes. It's free to play in your browser, with no download and no sign-up needed. Coins you earn are for fun and can never be bought.
Is it all luck?
No. Only the order of the prizes is random, and both players face the same order with the same thirteen cards. Every bid is your choice.
What happens on a tie?
It's a battle: nobody takes the prize, it stays on the table, and the next flip is for both. A tie on the last flip leaves the pile to nobody.
How does scoring work?
Each prize is worth its number, Ace 1 up to King 13, 91 points in all. Whoever has more points after thirteen flips wins.
Is there a daily game?
Yes. The Daily Pile is one game a day with the same prizes and the same regular for everyone, and a par to beat.
Can I play on a phone?
Yes. It's built for touch first and plays the same on a phone, a tablet or a computer.
